Hailing from the humid swamplands of the southeastern USA, Cornelius F. Van Stafrin III has been performing site-specific deep-listening sounds since 2002. They are a shadowy figure even for the obscure depths of North American underground performance art & noise. Cornelius has steadily built a cult following through self-released lathe-cut records and meticulously executed live performances, often in collaboration with other artists. In their first official release since 2011, they present a series of excepts from live recordings. Using an array of home-made/-modified equipment ranging from droning reed instruments to degrading reel-to-reel tape loops, the listener is invited into sonic tapestries of southern gothic esoterica and slo-mo concrete abstractions.
All sound sources are from field and live recordings collected during 2014, 2015, 2017, & 2018. Edited for time and space.
